And the winner is …
We have just bought a 42 Bavaria, 2005 through our wonderful Yacht broker, Yiannis Drimousis from YD Yachts here in Athens. She has 3 cabins, two heads (one is electric), twin wheels which allow for much better access to the cockpit, furling main sail, furling genoa and a nice big saloon/galley area. She needs some cosmetic work but looks like a pretty sound boat and we are thrilled. We first inspected her on Saturday afternoon and made an offer today (Monday) which is subject to a marine survey, rigging inspection and engine inspection. The haul out is booked for tomorrow (Tuesday) . Yiannis has co-ordinated the surveyor, rigger and engineer all to be there at 10 am. We should have this all finished tomorrow and in a couple of days, if all is well, we will be the proud new owners and can move aboard probably next week.
The purchase is the relatively easy part – getting her off the Greek ships register and on to the the Australian ships register will take 5 – 6 weeks. In this time the boat cannot leave the dock so we will spend the time taking care of all the jobs needing doing and getting used to living aboard again. Fingers crossed …
