Food glorious food
Vasilis, from Vasilis Taverna (40 m up the street from the apartment) pictured above, is our new first best friend. He serves huge authentic Greek meals and plies us with Greek salad and bread for starters (which is a meal in itself) and always makes us loukoumades (fried dough balls with honey and cinnamon) and a shot glass of his ‘special’ liqueur (Tsipouro ) to finish every meal.
The weather here is usually stable during spring. Each day is about 30 degrees, not too much humidity and a very nice sea breeze which, like the opposite to our summer Nor’Easter, is a Sou’Wester 10 – 15 knots blowing all afternoon and dying in the evening. We watched with amusement yesterday as the charterers all left port early to rush off on their week’s holiday into the teeth of a howling 15 – 20 kt southerly. Many were obviously inexperienced and were hurtling along thru the whitecaps with rails underwater . Probably more than a few sailors would be feeling green on their first night out. Oops – that could be me …
